I’ve always liked the idea of a list, the way it can work in a novel between two characters to give them stakes, to give them freedom, and to put a little pressure on them. In my very first romance manuscript, the heroine flies to Hawaii with a list scrawled out on a napkin in her pocket, pushing her to take risks she would never, in ordinary circumstances, permit herself to take. And while that book was never published, I snuck a different version of “the list” into MADLY, where Winston and Allie — both reeling from ended relationships, both unsure what they want next in life, but both very much interested in pushing themselves to figure it out — make a list together of ten things … and then start making themselves do them.
I hope it’s as much fun for you guys to read as it was for me to write! More about MADLY, including an excerpt and preorder links, on the book page … and TRULY is still on sale for 0.99 if you need to catch up with the New York series!
